Melania Trump: First Lady savaged for ‘disrespectful’ dress on 9/11 tribute | World | News

The First Lady has received a huge amount of backlash online for a tribute photo taken from when they visited a memorial in 2018 and dated it the anniversary of the attack with the words: “We will never forget”. But Melania, who has caused controversy in the past with her clothing choices, wore a navy dress with white stiching in the photo as she stood next to her husband, US President Donald Trump . The 49-year-old’s dress featured a stitch detailing at the back which people have compared to as looking like one of the twin towers from 2001.

Next to the design is a button flap that is also stitched in white, and some claim it resembles the images of the World Trade Centre being struck by aircraft.

Furious critics took to Twitter to blast Melania for her poster.

One said: “I’m sure I’m not the first one to spot this but who in the world thought it was a good idea for Melania to wear this coat in the 9/11 photo.

“It legit looks like an object is flying into a tower or the Washington Monument.”

While another added: “Is that a plane crashing into one of the twin towers on the back of Melania’s coat?”

A third person said: “Not a fan of their character but Melania had interesting and often impeccable taste.

“The fact that she wore a very sever yet very feminine military style coat today is quite chic. But seeing a 9/11 diss in the stitching? What.”

Melania’s spokeswoman has blasted the “ridiculous” backlash over the coat.

“Our Administration supports the removal of flavoured e-cigarettes from stores until they’re approved by @US_FDA. #BeBest.”

The tweet included a survey which showed how young people’s e-cigarette usage continues to climb.

However, Twitter users questioned why the FLOTUS decided to tweet about vaping on the anniversary of 9/11.

One user said: “Why may I ask are you tweeting this out on the anniversary of 9/11? Just curious.

“I mean you could wait a whole day to do this. #WeWillNeverForget.”
