Declan Rice to Man Utd

West Ham legend Tony Cottee is confident that Manchester United and Manchester City want to sign Declan Rice.

“I am sure Manchester United would want him. I am sure Manchester City would want him in that holding role, though they have just bought Rodri,” Cottee told talkSPORT.

“Of course, let’s not forget, he did grow up as a Chelsea fan. Maybe once their embargo is lifted, they’ll be looking as well.”

Cottee’s comments are in response to claims Manchester United are preparing a £90million bid for the West Ham talent.

United will go for Europa League

Former Manchester United forward Dimitar Berbatov believes his former side must win silverware this season and believes the club will go for it in the Europa League.

“When people ask me if United will try to win the Europa League, I think, why wouldn’t they?” Berbatov told Betfair.

“United need to win a trophy this season. The club’s high standards demands that they go all out to win every competition they enter so I expect them to try to win the Europa League. It would be a great achievement and an invaluable experience for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his young players.

“It might also be United’s best hope of qualifying for next season’s Champions League and, while playing on Thursday can have consequences for a team’s Premier League form, they should use all their power to try to win this competition.”

Jose: Real Madrid my greatest experience

Jose Mourinho says his days as Real Madrid manager were the greatest experiences of his life.

The Portuguese tactician beat rivals Barcelona to the LA Liga title in the 2011/2012 season. He also bagged a Copa del Rey and Supercopa de Espana before returning to Chelsea.

“Real Madrid was my best experience because of what I learned as a coach, as a man, because of the lessons I took in my career and in my life,” he told Portuguese TV channel 11, per Marca.

“It is the best memory of my career, it was fantastic.”

Maguire’s top man

Brendan Rodgers has heaped praise on Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire for his conduct during this summer’s transfer saga.

The England defender arrived at Old Trafford from Leicester in a deal worth £80million.

And ahead of this weekend’s clash against his former club – Rodgers things Maguire’s behaviour was “exemplary.”

“I text him now and then and wish him the best when he plays with England,” Rodgers said. “He’s a remarkable guy and a fantastic player.

“His behaviour typified him as a man. It was so difficult for him and right the way through, his behaviour was exemplary. He’s a good guy and you can see he’s made them better.”

Alexis: Why I left

Alexis Sanchez has quashed claims that he and team-mate Romelu Lukaku didn’t give it their all at Manchester United.

Sanchez, who only scored five times during his 18 months with United, was also sent to Inter two weeks after that, on a season-long loan.

“Lukaku and I trained very well,” he told ESPN. “But we needed to play more in games to get to our best.

“It wasn’t the right time for us to be at Manchester. Too many changes. When you change that much, it’s tough.”

New target acquired

Manchester United are reportedly chasing Reading goalkeeper Coniah Boyce-Clarke and could make a move in January.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to make plans for the January transfer window after making three signings during the summer.

And 16-year-old goalkeeper Boyce-Clarke is believed to be on Solskjaer’s radar after scouts were sent to watch him this week.

The Mirror claim that United representatives saw Boyce-Clarke be the hero for England’s under-17s in a penalty shoot-out in the Syrenka Cup Final with Poland.

It’s claimed that the Red Devils are not put off by the fact that Boyce-Clarke recently agreed a new contract with Reading.

Paul Pogba £429k agreement

Paul Pogba wanted to join PSG during the summer.

According to Italian website Calciomercato, the 26-year-old agreed a whopping £429,000 per week contract with the Parisian champions.

But the deal fell through because of Neymar.

PSG had hoped to free up wages by selling Neymar back to Barcelona or Real Madrid – but he stayed and the World Cup winner was forced to stay at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer wants four

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to sign four players to turn his team around, reports say.

The Red Devils had a fruitful summer transfer window, securing the signatures of Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire.

But Solskjaer believes Manchester United need more and the Evening Standard say Woodward has decided the Red Devils manager will be given time to turn his side around.

It is claimed that United have interest in James Maddison, Jadon Sancho, Declan Rice and Sean Longstaff.

Paul Pogba swap deal

Manchester United are prepared to finally sell Paul Pogba to Real Madrid.

According to Spanish media outlet Diario Madridista, United will do business BUT only providing Toni Kroos plus cash is sent in return.

Zinedine Zidane’s side were trying to engineer a move for the French international but United’s £150million valuation prevent a summer transfer.

“Zidane has an obsession, which is still Pogba,” said Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda. “The French coach is a person of fixed ideas and insists on Paul.

“They will try in January and there have already been the first contacts with United. In the conversations that still exist between emissaries from Madrid and United, a name has been put – Toni Kroos.

“United tried to sign Kroos this summer and it is the one that United would ask for as a condition. For him they offered this summer £75m and that caused him to sign a new contract with Real.”

Wanted: James Maddison

Manchester United are monitoring Leicester playmaker James Maddison.

That’s according to the Manchester Evening News, who claim Leicester are likely to demand a similar price to that of Harry Maguire – who signed for £80million in August.

The report claims Ed Woodward and Co are hopeful that Maddison’s popular England colleagues Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard can persuade the 22-year-old to join next summer.

Maddison is also reportedly being targeted by Liverpool and Premier League champions Manchester City.

Lewandowski bids

Real Madrid have been interested in Robert Lewandowski “for several years” but have been unsuccessful in their efforts to bring him to the Bernabeu.

That’s according to Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, who confirmed his sides attempts to sign the Poland international.

“There are players who don’t get sold,” Perez told Marca.

“We went for Lewandowski for several years and nothing happened because he has no clause and they won’t sell him. There’s no way”.
