Brexit news: Hartley-Brewer’s brilliant response to Blackford – ‘Extraordinary attitude’ | UK | News

The SNP Remainer told the talkRADIO host the clock is ticking for Boris Johnson to get a deal. But as he reminded Ms Hartley-Brewer of ‘s ultimatum to the Prime Minister, the Brexiteer host snapped. Mr Blackford said: “The clock is ticking. Remember when Boris Johnson went to see Angela Merkel and he was told you’ve got 30 days to bring forward a proposal.

“So that’s taking us up to the 26th of September and that’s another important date. So he’s got 13 days from now by the deadline set by Mrs Merkel.”

But Ms Hartley-Brewer delivered an incredible response to his reminder.

She said: “I have to say, I do find it extraordinary that somebody who thinks it’s outrageous that Westminster has any say in the running of Scotland, thinks it’s acceptable for the German Chancellor to tell the British Prime Minister, offering deadlines by what time they have to bring things to her table.

“I do find that an extraordinary attitude.

“Angela Merkel does not set deadlines for the British Prime Minister, whoever that Prime Minister is.

“If it was you I wouldn’t want her to.”

The clash comes after Boris Johnson’s decision to prorogue Parliament for five weeks until October 14.

MPs are currently hoping a decision by the English High Court claiming prorogation of Parliament was lawful will be reversed by the Supreme Court on Tuesday.

“There is the rough shape of a deal to be done.”

Mr Johnson is due to hold talks with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and the bloc’s chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier on Monday.

He added: ”We’ll talk about the ideas that we have been working on, and we’ll see where we get.

“I would say I’m cautiously optimistic.”
